Description

wood, polychrome paint, with broad beak, decorated with painted and incised geometrical ornaments, drilled holes around the rim, min. dam., missing parts, slight traces of abrasion;
the Bobo use a great variety of masks, and even in small villages there are twenty or more types of masks, all entrusted with a special task, and a special role in the masquerade. These masquerades take place on three important occasions: the male initiation ceremonies, thanksgiving, and the funeral of a killed person.
