Description

ceramic, pigments, old collection no. 249301[?] on the underside

Depiction of a deity or sacred dignitary with a monumental, fan-shaped headdress and richly modelled relief decoration.

Beneath the multi-tiered headdress, mask-like stylised faces are arranged in registers; the central figure features a beak-like mouth, earspools, and a densely ornamented chest area.

The figure holds a dignitary staff in its hands; to the side, an incense bag is shown, pointing to a ritual-ceremonial context.
