Description

silver, enamelled in yellow, green and light blue,

A pair of remarkable large triangular fibulas in “du ver” (wormhole) technique of soldering tiny silver tubes into a web frame. This technique was lost shortly after 1900 and all attempts to revive it did not lead to convincing results.

Known in Morocco as “tizerzai”, fibulas are essential components of female adornment and are worn in pairs as cloak fasteners. Their size, weight and workmanship reflect the wearers’s social status.
