Description
Colour lithograph 29/150, signed,
This rare print shows Bargheer’s concept and ambition: the picture remains grounded in reality, abstraction is achieved through the use of symbolic forms.
Bargheer studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Hamburg- Lerchenfeld until 1918 and became a member of the Hamburg Secession in 1929. In 1939 Bargheer moved to Italy and turned stylistically to abstraction. In 1955 and 1959 he took part in the I. and II. Documenta. In 1963 he became a professor at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. (Source: Lottissimo)
