Description

wood, shiny brown patina, two strings of glass beads, with overlong arms framing the upper part of the body, cascade-like coiffure, animal horn in the parting, min. dam., cracks, base;
Shankadi is a style of a few sub-groups in the Shaba-(Katanga) region of the Luba Empire. The most important characteristic of the Shankadi style is the cascading hairdo, that with slight variations, marks all figures and heads on rods, axes, oracles, stools and neckrests.
