Standing female figure "kangulungu"

wood, brown patina, red and black pigment, bulging belly of a pregnant woman, crested coiffure with neck lobe, arm and leg rings, slightly dam., missing part (disc-shaped base), cracks, strong abrasion of paint, base;
such free-standing sculptures in the round were kept in the inner chamber of the chief’s ritual house, where they served as power objects used both to protect and discipline the chief.
