Description

wood, varied reddish to medium brown patina, linear scarification marks on breast and abdomen, min. dam., fine cracks, paint rubbed off, on metal plate;
figures created for the Lega “bwami” men’s society illustrate characters with either good or poor moral values. It can be assumed that the present figure with her fine scarifications, carefully rounded head and symmetrical facial features portrays a “good” woman with positive traits.
