teakwood “kiaat” (“Pterocarpus angolensis”), shiny dark- and light brown patina, the two natural colours of the teakwood used in effective change, the upper half of the staff consisting of two parts artificially interwined, small cylindrical knob, the tip originally encased with metal, inserted wooden piece (knob);
measures and length are the decisive criterias for the distinction of dance staffs, walking sticks, dignitary staffs and clubs or “knobkerries” from the Zulu.
