Description

consisting of two wicker layers arranged on top of each other, stabilized by a braided reed rim, plant fibre cuff in the middle, wooden handle on the rear (loose), min. dam., slight traces of usage;
today the Mongo peoples are generally looked upon as the users of these shields. They inhabit the tropical rain forest and almost all of the entire Zaire basin (in the equatorial region), and with their 60 subtribes represent the most important Bantu tribal group.
