Description
wood, black und blue paint remains, agate stone string, both feet resting on the back of a high-legged animal, the left hand originally holding an object, striking long neck carved with rings, scarification marks on the face, rest., dam., insect caused damage, cracks;
the Igala occupy about five thousand square miles of land east of the Niger River and south of the Benue. The figures of the Igala are thought to bring good luck and prosperity to the families of their owners, and to serve as guardians of the children.
