Description
wood, greyish brown patina, partly encrusted, elegant curved shape, habile handle, slightly dam., minor missing parts, cracks, traces of weathering, abrasion of paint;
such club-type sceptres were formerly often listed as Senufo axes, at which Piet Meyer had already attributed them to the Lobi in 1981. According to Mottas they seem to be of Bobo origin, where they were called “kebere” and were used in so-called “joro” ritual.
