wood, middle brown patina, supported by six pillars with vertical carved ridges, the narrow pillow decorated with “amasumpa” decor, old collection label “L.1./47 Zulu “Zweischläfriges” Kopfholz der Zulukaffern in der Transvaalrepublik S. Africa O. Staib 1876 - A. Krämer” and writing “L.1/47 Zulu Staib- Krämer” and “Zulu-Kaffern 1876 L.1./47. O. Staib-A. Krämer”, min. dam., slight traces of usage;
such neckrests were used as pillows and should preserve the elaborate coiffures at night. They identified their owner concerning rank and membership to a certain clan.
