Description

12 strands of red beads with orange beads in the middle section, 8 brass bars dividing the ornament, brass shells attached all around, pieces of shell for closure, thread on cotton fabric;
the uncertain division between ornament and amulet provides the ornaments with the faculty of exercising good or bad influences, and therefore they must be handled with care. For this reason in the past a new bead necklace was first given to a dog to wear, so that the bad spirit possibly living in it would have afflicted the animal and not the person wearing it later.
