Description

wood, slightly shiny patina, polychrome paint, feathers, nails, of flat board-shaped form with crowning pair of horns, superimposed antelope head, completely covered with incised geometrical patterns, rep. (crack on the backside cramped with metal sheet), slight traces of abrasion;
these masks are from Northern Ghana, but in the formal aspects of their construction they bear some important similarities to certain Gurunsi and Bwa mask styles from Burkina Faso.
