Description

light wood, kaolin, black paint, metal tags, remains of red fabric, min. dam., fine cracks, missing parts (back), paint rubbed off in parts, base.
The Adouma are a small ethnic group in southeastern Gabon, living on the upper Ogoouè. This is a region, which has seen continous migrations during the last 300 years, a fact which is reflected also by its history of art. Their masks - figures are unknown - show various influences from ethnic groups in and around neighbouring areas, like the Punu, Fang or Vuvi.
