Description

“Mahakala” is a deity who is considered the “protector of Buddhist doctrine” (“Dharma”), hence also called “Dharmapala”. “Mahakala” appears as a so-called “wrathful deity”. He wears a crown with five skulls and the omniscient third eye on his forehead.

The mask type is found throughout the Himalayan region (Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, northern India, etc.).
