Ernst Schauerte, Berlin, GermanyE. Schauerte was employed as developement aid worker in Papua New Guinea from 1984 until 1989. He received the present mask as a gift in Kainantu in the Eastern Highlands.

Description
light wood, brown patina, striking broad face with pointed ears (flying fox?) and triangular projections above the forehead, fixed to ring-shaped wickerwork, slightly dam., abrasion of paint.
According to old collection label on the backside originating from Kamanibit village in the Middle Sepik area.
