wood, paint, metal, handwritten characters “kanji”: " 猿飛出　さるとびで " - “Noh mask of a monster with a head of monkey, a tail of snake and hands and feet of tiger” and label with characters “kanji”: " 三　さん " - “three” or “third”

Characteristic of the “tobide” masks are the large round metal eyes.

Belonging to the category of “kishin” masks which were developed early in “nō” history and are used for portraying demons, goblins or other worldly creatures. This category is divided into two main parts, “tobide” and “beshimi”.
