Description

wood, dark brown patina, red and white pigment, the face consists of geometrical forms protruding from the plane back, completed by clamp-like projections arranged horizontal in front of the face, see holes in pairs, leather strips with remains of fur, inserted animal teeth, decorating nails, slightly dam., missing parts: partly through insect caused damage, partly through inserted nails (left face half, rim backside), rep. (both tusks);
the mask appears on funerals, towards the end of the mourning period or in honour of important persons, at which the mask dancer himself or one of his companions carries a lance. The weapon might be a hint on the masks original function as warriors mask.
