Mask "kpan"

wood, black patina, extremely darkened red and white pigment, a vaulted board, carved with a narrow face with framing zigzag-beard, geometrical facial features, asymmetrical coiffure, slightly dam. (ears, rim of the mask), missing parts through insect caused damage (mask board, crest), rest. (crack on the right side of the head rep. with metal clamps);
“kpan” masks are part of the “goli” masquerade, a day-long performance that involves the entire village population and which displays four pairs of masks. This popular event only takes place during an important event such as the death of a notable or a major celebration.
