Description

wood, brown patina, black paint, indigo blue pigment, camwood powder, body and facial features of the larger figure strictly symmetrical with clear cut forms, adorned with strings of coconut discs/glass beads and magnificent beaded bonnet with crowning bird; back, arms and breast coated with accurately cut concentric tattoos, the smaller figure in contrast much simpler; characteristic features common to both: high towering cap-like coiffure with pointed earflaps, filed incisors and tribal marks on the cheeks; unusual detail: rectangular ears, slightly dam., traces of insect caused damage at the base of the smaller figure, abrasion of paint
