Description

wood, leather, bicolored, dyed in darkbrown and reddish brown, different scarifications and eye design, conical headgear with drilled holes for feather ornament, dam., cracks, traces of abrasion, small missing parts;
probably deriving from the Akparapong. The Akparabong are an Ejagham clan living along the Aweyong, an upper Cross River tributary. They produce for their “ekpe” society refined skin-covered dance crests and helmet masks of a distinctive style often incorrectly thought of as classic Ekoi.
