Karl Ludwig Schweisfurth (1930-2020), Hermannsdorf, Glonn near Munich, Germany
By 1964, Schweisfurth had expanded the HERTA business taken over from his father into the largest meat products company in Europe. Shortly after the sale of the company to the Nestle Group, the Schweisfurth Foundation was established in Munich in 1985. The foundation promotes ways for a holistic and fulfilled life, in which work and technology are brought into better harmony with nature. From then on, Schweisfurth dedicated himself entirely to organic farming. The production and distribution of food with the highest possible taste and health value while respecting basic ethical values is his declared goal. In addition, he initiates large art projects (“Art goes into nature”) and is involved in nature conservation. His work is continued today by his two sons and daughter in his spirit.
