Description

fired micaceous clay, traces of a mineral encrustation, fragmentary, base

The Neolithic settlement of Sesklo was named after the nearby modern village close to the excavation site. Sesklo is located approximately 10 km west of Volos in Thessaly, Greece.

Due to extensive ceramic finds, the name Sesklo is also used to designate a Neolithic period. The Sesklo culture marks the beginning of the ceramic Neolithic in Greece.
