Description
bronze cast, heavily corroded, label “4428” & “242”, plexiglass base
The slender neck bears a distinct collar. On the head rests a tall tiara, marking the idol as divine.
The Hittites were an Anatolian people of antiquity who, during the 2nd millennium BC, also exerted political and military influence in Syria and Canaan (in the region of Palestine, roughly corresponding to present-day Lebanon and Israel). For most of their history, their capital was Hattusa, located near the modern town of Bogazkale in north-central Turkey.
