Description

wood, blackish brown patina, remains of pigments, of oval form with a flat chin, heart-shaped deepened facial plane and tubular eyes, pierced around the rim, min. dam., slight traces of insect caused damage, abrasion;
the Pende people are living at the left bank of the the Kasai river. They became well known for their big masks, like “phumbu” and “giphogo”, rather than for their triangular miniature masks.
