Description

tube of fabric, densely embroidered with tiny shells, mostly white, in some areas in pink or brown, slightly dam.;
contact with other cultures led to the creation and use of the range of hats evident in the Pacific today. Perhaps the earliest and most common introduced new form is the “Panama hat” made from the young leaf of the coconut palm. Colourful and intricate shell hatbands were developed by Pacific Islanders to add interest to the Euroean style heads of the Pacific.
