Description

hard wood (“minamba”), slightly encrusted brown patina, remains of polychrome pigments, intact cover with lizard skin (“vihu”, Varanus indicus Daudin), sandglass-shaped, carved with a massive handle and incised ornaments, slightly dam., cracks, paint rubbed off;
drums of this type were used at ritual dances (in front or inside the ritual house) as ryhthmical accompaniment for the songs of old men.
