Description

a) headband “tambu”, b: 42 cm, bark-cloth, embroidered with nassa snails (“Nassarius callospira”), plant fibre cord for attachment (replaced right hand side), kuskus pelt; b) head ornament, d : 12 cm; h: 30 cm, small bonnet of knotted cord material with cassowary feathers densely plaited into the textile, the feathers were cut short in the lower area and remained long on top, good condition; c) set of 14 armrings “lailai”, Morobe Province, d: ca. 8 -8,5 cm, cut from the Trochus Niloticus shell, five rings with notched decor accentuated by black paint; the rings were worn by men on the upper arm at ritual dances, often in great numbers; d) two axe blades, heavy blackish stone, polished, lense-shaped and cylindrical, b: 12 cm und 11 cm, slightly dam.
