A work of the master carver Bamgboye (ca. 1885-1978) from Odo Owa, where he held the office of the chief Ifa priest. For other works of Bamgboye see AHDRC 0101614 and 0101648.
In the Yoruba pantheon, “eshu” represents one of the most respected deities (“orisha”). He is considered to be a mediator between the people and the gods
“Eshu” is a trickster phenomenon able to be good and bad, trustful and mischievous. He can bestow prosperity or cause misery.
