bush hardwood, dyed with red pigment, slightly convex front coated with fine linear grooves, bands of white ochre for ceremonial use, bands of carved lines on the reverse, a carved handle at the same place, a natural knot hole filled with resin plug, slightly dam. (rims), fine fissures (upper rim), metal base;
the thin parrying shields were used to deflect clubs and boomerangs; the broader shields were a protection from spears.
