Description
light brown wood, shiny patina, black paint remains, elongated conical lower part of the body, stump-like arms, a ringed neck supporting a head with simplified facial features, min. dam., cracks, traces of abrasion;
the only carvings known to be made by the Bagirmi are these stylized dolls, which depict women wearing wide skirts. The dolls are carved from light-coloured wood, which is then blackened. It is thought that these dolls like the Namchi dolls had a ritual function.
