Description
bronze,
This bell refers to the “oshugbo” society. Both chiefs and “oshugbo” members wear the headdress represented on the bell, and the crescent marks on the forehead appear on other “oshugbo” artforms. Such a bell hangs from a sash over the chief’s left hip and rings when he walks, warning people that he is approaching.
