“Agere ifa” bowls were used to store the sixteen sacred palm nuts used in divination rituals.
The horned snake is probably a representation of “Aydo Hwedo”, the rainbow serpent, which plays an important role in the creation myth of the Fon in Benin (formerly the Kingdom of Dahomey).
