Description
wood, rich reddish brown patina, traces of black paint, carved headpiece with two drilled holes for suspension, giving the bowl a zoomorphic shape, encrustations from years of kava residue, slightly dam., cracks;
Kava is drunk both casually and ceremonially. Regular bowls, such as the present example, have four legs, while large ceremonial bowls have eight or ten legs. A cord is passed through the projecting lug to hang the bowl when not in use.
