Description

19 teeth, fan-like arranged, handle with elaborate decor of plaited plant fibres (orchid, coconut palm), min. dam., on base;
these combs are made by the East Kwaio hill people of Malaita Island, from where they are traded down to the coast and onward to other areas of the Solomons. They are usually worn only by men, along with ear sticks plaited from the same materials.
