Description

Relatively high hat made of straw wickerwork. The upper end quadrangular flattened and densely covered with chicken feathers. In the centre above the forehead a rosette of red parrot feathers.

The hat is held in place with bone needles and may be adorned with feathers.

This type of hat occurs in a great number of variations in a wide contiguous area of notheastern Congo among Makere, Malele, Mamvu, Mangbele, Mangbetu, Mayogo, Meegye, Bari, Budu and Zande.
