Description
hide, brass emblems, base
There is disagreement about the origins of this type of shield. Most likely, however, they come from the Oromo (also “Galla”) in southern Ethiopia. Their distribution area also includes Djibouti, as well as the coastal regions of Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania.
The Arabic emblems are attributed to the lively exchange between the Oromo and Arab traders.
