The Ye’kuana (also Maquiritare) are a South American indigenous tribe settled in the tropical rainforest in the area of the Orinoco and Río Caura rivers in the border region of Venezuela and Brazil.
The two figures squatting back to back above the handle represent a great shaman and his wife, who also had magic powers.
