Description
bark cloth or “masi” is made from the bark of the Paper Mulberry tree “Broussentia papyrifera”, pounded, the strips joined, and pounded again until thin and supple; designs were then painted and stencilled on the bark by hand, using a variety of earth colours (dark red and black), present object with fringes and zigzag-hem, old label: “Jaruwa” Cloth from Fiji. from H. Anson Feb 23/89", slightly dam (rim), small holes, fringes missing in parts
