Description
wood, greyish brown patina, encrusted in some areas, reduced to minimal abstract forms: a small vaulted head with forehead crest, completed by curved horns and a long snout, incised scarifications, slightly dam., minor missing parts, cracks;
belonging to the male “mangam” association, the role of which is to enhance agricultural success through joint endeavors. The dance crests used at seasonal ceremonies, take the form of a bush cow or antelope, whose power is ritually brought into human service.
