Description

wood, lusterless patina, polychrome paint, half-spherical vaulted cranium with triangular pierced eyes, subdivided by a massive nose ridge, surmounted by two parallel, slender hornn joined on top, decorated with a flat incised triangular patterns, min. dam., cracks, slight traces of abrasion and insect caused damage (back);
according to Christopher Roy carved in the so-called “Risiam style”. The geographic area in which Risiam style masks are found corresponds to the area of the traditional Mossi states of Risiam, Ratenga and Zitenga, defined in the south by the White Volta River and in the north by the area occupied by the Kurumba.
