Description
wood, dark brown patina, encrusted in some areas, remains of white pigment, hourglass-shaped drum corpus with raised ring-shaped cuff, to the top and to the bottom carved with the gaping jaws of two crocodiles, slightly dam., minor missing parts, cracks, abrasion of paint, drum skin missing;
when not in use, drums were stored above fireplaces so that the smoke would keep insects away. Over generations, a rich patina was built up.
