Ancestor spirit mask

Description

wood, greyish brown patina, small remains of white pigment, long bow-shaped nose bridge, notched beard, curved ornaments, cracks, missing parts above all backside at the rim, rep. at the same place (right side);
in the Lower Sepik Area, it is generally accepted that long pointed noses represent spiritual beings while short naturalistic ones portray true ancestors.
