Description
wood, slightly shiny patina, polychrome paint, feathers, nails, of flat board-shaped form with crowning pair of horns, superimposed antelope head, completely covered with incised geometrical patterns, rep. (crack on the backside cramped with metal sheet), slight traces of abrasion;
these masks are from Northern Ghana, but in the formal aspects of their construction they bear some important similarities to certain Gurunsi and Bwa mask styles from Burkina Faso.
The object Zoomorphic mask “sigma” with the object ID 3040450 was last part of the auction 83rd Tribal Art Auction at May 28, 2016 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house and had the lot number 151.
