Description

wood, matt patina, polychrome paint, with projecting (crocodile)snout and jagged forehead-nose-ridge, carved with ornamental decor, remains of bark wood and cord on the backside, min. dam., missing parts through insect caused damage, cracks, traces of abrasion;
crocodiles are considered as guardians of standpipes. They also play an important role within the worship of the ancestors.


The object Zoomorphic mask with the object ID 3041624 was last part of the auction 85th Tribal Art Auction at March 4, 2017 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 139 achieved a sales price of EUR 3,300.
