Description
wood, blackish brown patina, remains of cord, combining several animals (hyaena/antelope), crowned by a long pair of horns, min. dam., fine cracks, slight traces of abrasion, base;
zoomorphic masks illustrate the dicscourse of man with his own animalistic qualities. Aside of the important hyaena mask “suruku” there are hybrid forms, lion and monkey masks “n’gon”, like the present one.
The object Zoomorphic mask with the object ID 3039442 was last part of the auction 81st Tribal Art Auction at October 31, 2015 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 183 achieved a sales price of EUR 700.
