wood, partly shiny brown patina, crowned by short twisted horns, raised scarification marks, min. dam., small missing parts, cracks, slight traces of abrasion, base;
the Ligbi are a small Mande-speaking group living around the towns of Bondoukou and Kong where they had settled even before the Dioula. Like with many ethnic groups who borrow artistic elements from their neighbours and integrate them into their works, also with the Ligbi a significant mixture of Jimini, a subgroup of the Senufo, Senufo and Kulango expressions are to be found with their rather rare masks.
The object Zoomorphic mask with the object ID 3036512 was last part of the auction 76th tribal art auction at March 22, 2014 on Zemanek-Münster Auction house. The object with the lot number 207 achieved a sales price of EUR 900.
