Description

wood, lusterless patina, polychrome paint, high, partly open worked headcrest with six hook-shaped projections on both sides, rep. (breakages on both sides), small missing parts, cracks, slight traces of abrasion;
the masks of the Winiama mainly depict bush spirits and spiritual beings who adopted animalic forms. The animals that occur most frequently are the antelope, buffalo, bush pig, hornbill, hyaena and the serpent, at which all animals are extremely stylized in form.
