Description

a) basket with lid, Tutsi, Ruanda, h: 43,5 cm, straw, fibres partly dyed in dark brown forming geometrical patterns, bamboo handle; the most selected pieces of wickerwork in Africa were made by the Tutsi; b) mat, Pende, m: 78 cm x 32 cm, grass fibre, fine wickerwork, the rims overcasted or seamed; c) lidded box, Bakongo, b: 11 cm/h: 7,5 cm, oval form, slightly dam.; d) two powder boxes, Bakongo, h: 12,5 cm/13 cm, wood, dark brown patina, coated with incised fine ornaments, lids fixed by cord material, slightly dam.; e) small power figure “biteki”, Teke, h: 19 cm, wood, dark brown patina, traces of red pigment, blackish mass at the belly, bands and bundles of fabric attached to the neck
